Naggar is a Beautiful village situated on the left bank of the Beas River. The famous Naggar castle one of its kind in Kullu valley, perfect example of local architecture ( Kathkuni style ) stone and wooden bonded walls. Naggar (1760 m) is wonderfully situated on a forested slope and commands an extensive view. It was the capital of erstwhile Kullu state for about 1400 years. There are large number of famous ancient (1200 AD) temples most notably of the lord Vishnu, Tripura Sundari & Lord Krishana and Gauri Shankar.
Roerich Art Gallery famous for its paintings made By Nicholas Roerich A artist, author and thinker who made Naggar his home married to Devika Rani an actress widely acknowledged as the first lady of Indian cinema and first recipient of The Dadasaheb Phalke award in 1969. Naggar is also a base for many treks to Chanderkhani Pass Bijalimahadev and Malana. Walk to old villages and experience warmth of woolen handicrafts shawls, pattus, socks woven by hand in traditional style. Enjoy seasonal fruits and several temples in and around Naggar.
